On The Road to CES
On The Road to CES
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is just a few weeks away, and we’re excited to head out to Vegas to check it out again. As one of the largest trade shows in the world, CES has had a long and storied history of showcasing some of the most innovative technologies that have revolutionized consumer electronics.
Crijn Bouman, CEO and Co-founder
In the late 60’s and 70’s, CES introduced the world to pocket radios and VCRs. Nintendo unveiled the NES to the world at CES in 1985. In the 90’s, Bill Gates used CES as a platform to propel Microsoft into the public eye. Many of the household commercial electronics – CD players, DVD, Blu-ray – that we know of today all made their debut at CES.
Wheels in Motion
In recent years, the automotive industry has started to utilize CES as an effective stage to exhibit their latest innovations. While some of these vehicles are purely conceptual, one of the most significant developments in transportation is now more real than ever. The latest breakthroughs in self-driving vehicle technology have taken the forefront at CES, and automakers are eager to reveal their latest models at the convention each year. As self-driving vehicles and electric vehicles continue to steal more of the spotlight, it’s hard for us not to get excited about where the future of transportation is headed! And with Las Vegas serving as a testbed for a few robotaxi companies, could this year’s CES be the year that we finally see that “ChatGPT moment” that revolutionizes the industry forever?
The Road Ahead
So, what are our predictions for this year’s CES? The answer: More! More electric vehicles from more OEMs, more advancements in AI and self-driving vehicle technology, and, most importantly, more indication of the growing trends that continue to shape the industry. As the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats, and if CES continues to be the venue for the industry to showcase the latest breakthroughs that will make transportation cleaner, safer, and more efficient, we’re eager to see the new opportunities that we have to help the industry reach new horizons in mobility.
The Consumer Decides
CES has come a long way from portable radios and VCRs, but one thing remains a constant - the consumer. Consumers will dictate the products and services that will define mobility for years to come, from the self-driving vehicles parked in their driveways, to the robotaxi fleets on the road. We’re eager to check out CES and see what the future of transportation looks like, not just as members of the industry, but as consumers ourselves.
